Whistleblower Policy and Procedure

At Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital(HGMH), we are committed to conducting business with the highest standards of professional, ethical, financial, and legal behaviour as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Recognizing the risk of illegal or unethical activity that all organization’s face, the purpose of this Whistleblowing Policy is to outline the responsibilities and processes related to the disclosure of information related to any suspected wrongdoing.
Any person who becomes aware of a breach of professional, ethical, financial, or legal behaviour, non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations, or contravention of any policy governing the conduct of persons associated with HGMH, is responsible for reporting this immediately by contacting compliance.officer@hgmh.on.ca or by completing the Whistleblower Reporting System Form here.
While whistleblowing is an important mechanism for accountability, it does not replace existing reporting structures. Staff members should continue to report concerns through the hospital’s well-established processes whenever possible. Patient and families should continue to call the hospital or submit complaints and compliments through the Feedback Form (see blue tab on the right side of your screen).
Protection and Confidentiality
HGMH is committed to protecting individuals who report concerns in good faith. Retaliation against whistleblowers is strictly prohibited, and all reports will be handled with the appropriate level of confidentiality and sensitivity. By encouraging transparency and accountability, we can all contribute to a safe, ethical, and high-quality healthcare environment.
