HGMH Reflects on a Year of Impact, Recognition and Service at Annual Meeting

Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) welcomed staff, physicians, volunteers, board members, community partners and community members to its Annual Meeting, an evening dedicated to reflecting on the past year, celebrating achievements, recognizing the people who help make quality local healthcare possible, and the progress that continue to strengthen healthcare close to home.
The meeting opened with a heartfelt patient story shared by Therese Ellis, that highlighted the real-life impact of care provided at HGMH. Her personal experience served as a powerful reminder that behind every statistic and initiative are patients and families whose lives are touched by the dedication and compassion of the hospital team, and the lasting impact that a small community hospital can have on the lives of those it serves.
Building on that message, attendees heard highlights from the hospital's Annual Report, showcasing another year of growth, innovation and collaboration. From quality and safety improvements to service enhancements and organizational milestones, the report reflected the commitment of staff, physicians, volunteers and partners working together to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
The hospital's auditor also presented the audited financial statements, reporting that HGMH concluded the 2025–2026fiscal year with an operating deficit of $113,087. Despite ongoing financial pressures facing hospitals across the province, the organization remains committed to responsible financial stewardship while continuing to provide safe, high-quality care to the community.
The full Annual Report, including the audited financial statements, is available on the Hospital’s website, www.hgmh.on.ca/en/about-us/reports-and-publications.
Members also participated in the election of the 2026–2027 Board of Directors, approving the slate of directors for the coming year and welcoming three new Board members: Marie Nichols, Ken McTaggart and Brigitte Pulice. Their knowledge and experience will help guide the organization as it continues to evolve to meet the changing healthcare needs of the region.
A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Board Award of Excellence, which recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in their service to the hospital and its patients. This year's recipients, selected through peer nominations, were Dr. Julie Crevier and Jennifer Mattice. Both recipients were recognized for the positive impact they have made through their dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Their contributions have helped strengthen the organization and enhance the experience of patients, families and colleagues alike.
The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude for two outgoing members of the Board of Directors. Board Chair, Stuart Robertson, was recognized for his leadership and commitment over the past two years as Chair, helping guide the organization through important initiatives and opportunities. Appreciation was also extended to outgoing Board Director, Genevieve Raby, for her valuable service and contributions during her time on the Board.
"Annual Meetings provide an opportunity to look back on what we've accomplished together and recognize the people who make those accomplishments possible," said Robert Alldred-Hughes, President and CEO of HGMH. "The stories, achievements and recognitions shared reflect the dedication of so many individuals who are committed to providing exceptional care close to home."
HGMH extends its sincere thanks to everyone who attended the Annual Meeting and to all those who contribute to the hospital's mission throughout the year. Together, they are helping ensure that high-quality, compassionate healthcare remains available close to home for generations to come.
