COVID-19 Restriction Changes at Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH)
As the number of reported cases of COVID-19 continues to decline and hospital admissions remain low in Eastern Ontario, HGMH will be suspending several COVID-19 restrictions.
As of June 30th, HGMH will return to its pre-pandemic open visitation policy which means that visits will no longer need to be scheduled nor will visitors be required to show proof of vaccination.
There will no longer be staff screeners at the entrances to actively screen people entering the hospital and all doors will once again be open starting July 4th, 2022. Active screening will however continue in the triage room for patients going to the Emergency Department only. Anyone coming to the hospital should self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before arriving and should stay home if feeling unwell unless emergency care is required.
While most masking requirements were lifted in Ontario, masking requirements will remain in place at this time for all staff, physicians, patients (as tolerated), and visitors. “Our organization has worked through two lengthy outbreaks on our inpatient units. The increased demand on all staff working through outbreaks is not one we wish to repeat”. In the interest of keeping our patients, staff and visitors safe, HGMH will maintain the current requirements to mask within the hospital” said Robert Alldred-Hughes, President & CEO of HGMH. Surgical masks will continue to be available at all entrances of the hospital.
With this, the cafeteria will once again be open to patients and visitors and the Gift Shop will now be open on a regular basis as staffing allows.
The Senior Leadership team at HGMH will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and all infection control measures that are in place. We want our patients to feel safe when coming to HGMH. We thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
