Temporary Changes to Emergency Department Due to Flooring Project

Main Entrance of Hospital

Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) would like to inform the community of a temporary relocation of its Emergency Department as part of a necessary flooring upgrade project aimed at enhancing safety, infection prevention, and overall patient care.

Over time, flooring in high-traffic clinical areas experiences wear and tear. Replacing it helps ensure a clean, durable, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting infection control standards. This project was made possible through the Ministry of Health’s Exceptional Circumstances Project (ECP) funding.

Effective April 7 through May 1, the Emergency Department has been relocated to a temporary space near the main entrance of the hospital. During this time, patients will continue to receive care; however, services will be provided in a smaller area than usual.

Patients and visitors are asked to take note of the following:

  • The Emergency Department is temporarily located near the main entrance
  • Parking in the east parking lot will make access easier
  • Upon arrival, patients should sit in the triage area and wait to be called
  • Visitors are to be limited due to reduced space

“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we complete this important upgrade,” said Robert Alldred-Hughes, President & CEO. “Investing in our facilities helps us continue to provide safe, high-quality care to our community.”

Patients can continue to access Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory services as usual during this time.

HGMH thanks the community for its cooperation and reminds everyone that patient care remains our top priority throughout this project.
